RagFest 2010, Orange County, California’s annual festival of ragtime music, unfolds in historic downtown Fullerton on Saturday, October 16 (from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and Sunday, October 17 (from noon until 5 p.m.), with a special variety revue show at 8 p.m. on Saturday night.
Now celebrating its 11th anniversary this year, RagFest offers several stages highlighting soloists, duets, combos, vocalists and more performing vintage and contemporary ragtime music. The festival will feature such luminaries as Carl Sonny Leyland, Patrick Aranda, Nan Bostick, Bob Pinsker and Andrew Barrett. Although the schedule contains a great deal of piano music, attendees will also be able to hear the small ragtime combo known as the Albany Nightboat Ragtimers; Those Syncopating Songbirds, who deliver vocal versions of great songs from the ragtime era; Valley Ragtime Stomp, who offer a fusion of ragtime with other musical styles; ragtime vocalist supreme Erika C. Miller; and the vaudeville duo Evans & Rogers. Additionally, and the festival will feature many special guest artists throughout the weekend.
Festival headquarters is Steamers Jazz Club, 138 W. Commonwealth Ave., Fullerton, where Will Call and day-of-festival tickets will be available. The Saturday night Ragtime Revue show is at Mo’s Fullerton Music Center, 121 N. Harbor Blvd., Fullerton. Tickets for both daytime and evening performances can be purchased at the door.
Tickets are $50 all-weekend and $22 for Saturday afternoon, Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. Half-day tickets for Saturday or Sunday afternoon are available at a special promotional price of $12.
